When comparing coffee to espresso the first thing that is discussed is what drink has more caffeine. Rumor has it that an espresso cup is filled to the top with caffeine and many people refer to espresso as a “caffeine shot. When comparing how much caffeine there is in a cup of coffee verses a shot of espresso you have to take into consideration that there are many different types of espresso products as there are coffee products. So for this comparison we will term “espresso” as a drink made up of 1 plain shot with no extra flavor added, and we will refer to coffee as 1 cup of regular black coffee. Now that we have that straightened out you may be very surprised to know that a cup of regular coffee has a larger amount of caffeine than 1 espresso shot. In further comparison it is a fact that the espresso shot has more milligrams of caffeine per ounce than coffee. To be exact a shot of espresso has 50 milligrams of caffeine per one ounce and a cup of coffee has around 20 milligrams of caffeine.

But the average person usually only consumes 1 shot of espresso and coffee drinkers generally consume more than 1 cup of coffee throughout the day.
